1. Power & Battery Capacity Monitoring
The TELSEC® 1500/2000RM/WM monitors battery voltage and capacity by measuring the bulk power plant through the incoming power feeding the system. It automatically estimates total hours of battery capacity and how much time is remaining before the site loses backup battery power. With this data, alarms can be generated to notify monitoring centers of high and low float voltage, under-voltage alarms, low total battery capacity, and time remaining before loss of battery power. Power and battery problems can be readily diagnosed remotely. Dispatching decisions can be prioritized based upon power failures and imminent loss of battery backup power at remote sites.

2. HVAC Monitoring & Control
The TELSEC® products will maintain proper temperature and humidity in the shelter by controlling the air conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems. The control strategies used will reduce energy consumption, extend the life of critical operating equipment, ensure equipment is operating properly, and prevent wide swings in temperature and humidity. This is accomplished by using intelligent lead/lag strategies that alternate the cycling of the HVAC equipment. Energy consumption is reduced by sensing inside and outside air temperatures, and utilizing ventilation equipment in an economizer mode for "free cooling." Further energy savings can be attained through tighter temperature control, automatic resetting of comfort modes, and limiting set point ranges. |

3. Environmental Alarm Monitoring & Control
Remote site environments need to be monitored for the telephony equipment to operate properly and to ensure a safe working environment for telecom personnel. Quest products intelligently sense changing environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, smoke/fire, toxic & explosive gas, flooding, security intrusion, and commercial power failures. Telsec products control lighting, dehumidifiers, sump pumps, HVAC equipment, and provide on-site annunciators for audible and visual alarm indication. Built-in modems and serial communication ports are used to send TL1 alarm messages which are communicated to a remote monitoring center for immediate response. Sensing data and alarms are recorded in historical logs for on-site or remote diagnosis. |

4. Telephony Equipment Monitoring
Telephony equipment monitoring is required to eliminate system downtime and maximize customer satisfaction. Quest products provide real-time surveillance of every alarm type from sophisticated fiber optic performance monitoring to the simplest discrete alarm. They monitor status and failures of MUXs, fiber optics, rectifiers, fuse panels, repeaters, channel banks, receive/transmit communications, access node, card, and equipment shelf, and provide on-site annunciators for audible and visual alarm indication. Built-in modems and serial communication ports are used to send TL1 alarm messages which are communicated to a remote monitoring center for immediate response. Sensing data and alarms are recorded in historical logs for on-site or remote diagnosis.

5. Door/Hatch Access Control
To provide safe and protected access into remote sites and limit required site visits, TELSEC® products provide three methods of control: card access, key codes, and remote operation of the entry door. Security card access control using proximity card readers enables telecom personnel to remotely change passwords and codes, thereby controlling access without having to re-key or make unnecessary site visits. Door actuators are controlled directly by Quest products and door access is maintained even during commercial power failures. An unauthorized intrusion creates a TL1 alarm message to the remote monitoring center. Access logs track who visits remote sites with date and time stamping.

6. Cable Pressure & Air Flow Monitoring
To prevent cable faults and water intrusion in copper lines that could result in customer downtime and loss of revenue, TELSEC® products monitor cable pressure and air flow in real-time. With this pressure and flow data, telecom personnel can review trends, diagnose where and when a fault occurred, and take immediate corrective action when alarms are received.

7. Variable Speed Heat Exchanger
TELSEC® products can provide variable speed control of heat exchanger fans on remote site cabinets. Using variable speed control of fans extends fan life, battery life, and results in energy savings. fan and fuse facilities are also monitored. |

8. Tower Light Monitoring
By monitoring tower lights such as beacon, strobe, and side lights, TELSEC® products ensure that all lights are operational. In the event of a light failure,TELSEC® products recognize the failure and generate a user-defined alarm message and send it to the appropriate location. Full-time operational tower lights ensure that wireless providers can avoid unnecessary fines. |

9. Generator Monitoring
By ensuring proper operation of generators, catastrophic failure and system
downtime can be avoided. TELSEC® products provide alarming and monitoring for generators including the following functions: enable/disable, run time, transfer switch, fuel level, fuel spillage, and alarms for scheduled run time. In addition, TELSEC®'s can control generator startup. |
