Quest Introduces Enhanced TELSEC® ESB Monitoring & Control System

Palmetto, Florida - Quest Controls, Inc. is pleased to introduce its enhanced TELSEC® ESB Monitoring & Control System, designed for use in Data Centers, Headends, Fiber Hubs, Remote Terminals, CEVs and OTNs in the diverse Telecommunications industry.

The TELSEC® ESB is a wall mount configuration that provides a technician-friendly local interface with its wide backlit 80 character LCD display, large and flexible keypad interface, and local craft port. All active alarms and analog values such as temperature and humidity are constantly scrolling across its LCD display for easy review. In addition, the TELSEC® ESB provides an embedded Web Server enabling a user to quickly and easily access a TELSEC® over a network connection using a standard Web browser. The user can obtain current status of the facility and make changes to operation such as setpoint changes and bypassing outputs. The ESB also offers SNMP alarm management, email alarm messaging, and modem communications for simple transport of alarms to a centralized alarm center or multiple locations.

The upgraded TELSEC® ESB is designed to be modular to fit multiple facility requirements. While the basic model provides 16 universal inputs and 16 outputs, it can be expanded to 128 universal inputs, 64 digital outputs, and 10 analog outputs. In addition, up to 32 intelligent RTU’s controlling 32 separate HVAC systems can be networked back to the TELSEC® ESB. The upgraded ESB also provides 96 unique control strategies in its operating program. Integrated wiring into terminals in the enclosure enables flexible wiring and a lower cost equipment and installation solution. The ESB is also available in a UL Panel version which can be customized to a specific application.

Remote site applications for the TELSEC® ESB include: fiber hubs, headends, OTNs, remote terminals, cabinets, CEVs, CUEs, data and switching centers, and customer prem sites. At these unmanned or partially manned sites, status of active and historical alarms, inputs, outputs, and logs can all be quickly reviewed. This is especially useful for staff at centralized and local monitoring centers to identify the severity of problems, sort out false alarms, and make intelligent decisions as to when a field technician must visit a remote site. Two-way communications for alarming and remote interrogation results in reduced visits to remote sites due to false alarms and more effective use of available personnel through quicker inhouse and field diagnosis of problems.

The TELSEC® ESB performs HVAC and Environmental monitoring and control, power plant, UPS, generator, invertor, TVSS, and/or phase loss monitoring, equipment failure monitoring including rectifiers and fuse panels, intrusion alarming and door access control up to four doors, tower light monitoring, and video camera monitoring all in one compact system.

Quest Controls, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets a complete family of remote surveillance products that provide monitoring, control, and test solutions for the telecommunications, cable, and commercial industries. The TELSEC®, ADAM™, & Q3™ product families provide alarm performance, monitoring, control, and test of a facility’s critical operating environment and equipment to maintain and ensure each facility’s smooth and continuous operation. Quest Controls, Inc. also provides installation services as well as 24/7 monitoring and service contracts.

Quest Controls Announces Partnership with
EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Program

Quest Controls today announced a fundamental commitment to protect the environment by becoming an ENERGY STAR partner. Quest, through its voluntary partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program, will work to improve energy efficiency and fight global warming. Quest believes that a strategic, corporate energy management program will help us enhance our financial health and aid in preserving the environment for future generations.

“Quest is very committed to saving energy for its customers,” said Ed Goggin, Quest’s President. “Not only do our TELSEC® & Q3™ monitoring and control products provide a quick payback and good return on investment for our customers, they also help protect our environment.”

In partnership with ENERGY STAR, Quest Controls will:

Measure and track the energy performance of our organization’s facilities where possible by using tools such as those offered through ENERGY STAR;
Develop and implement a plan consistent with the ENERGY STAR Energy Management Guidelines to achieve energy savings; Help spread the word about the importance of energy efficiency to our staff and community; Support the ENERGY STAR Challenge, a national call-to-action to help improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more;
Highlight our achievements with recognition offered through ENERGY STAR.

"Environmental responsibility is everyone's responsibility - and today I'm pleased Quest Controls is taking this motto to heart," said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson. "By making smart energy choices, Quest is helping improve our nation's energy and environmental outlook."

ENERGY STAR was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, the ENERGY STAR label can be found on more than 50 different kinds of products, new homes and commercial and industrial buildings. Products and buildings that have earned the ENERGY STAR designation prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy-efficiency specifications set by the government. In 2007, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved about $16 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles.
