The TELSEC® ESB Monitoring & Control System can now accept Modbus devices through a serial connection. It is designed for use in Data Centers, Headends, Fiber Hubs, Remote Terminals, CEVs and OTNs in the diverse Telecommunications industry.
The TELSEC® ESB is a wall mount configuration that provides a technician-friendly local interface with its wide backlit 80 character LCD display, large and flexible keypad interface, and local craft port. Many different types of equipment, most notably generators and HVAC systems, offer Modbus protocols to monitor both alarms and status of the equipment. The TELSEC® ESB has been enhanced to accept these Modbus alarms and information directly into its monitoring system. Modbus settings can be accessed directly from the ESB Web Server. In addition, the ESB’s logging memory has increased from 10,000 to 24,000 entries for all inputs and outputs.
The ESB offers SNMP alarm management, email alarm messaging, and modem communications for simple transport of alarms to a centralized alarm center or multiple locations. The TELSEC® ESB also sends SNMP traps to Quest’s Q-View Server Software. Q-View enables the user to view all their sites from one IP address and access the web server for each ESB directly. Q-View also provides graphs, logging and significant alarm and data history for each site as well as accepting SNMP traps from up to 25,000 different devices.
The TELSEC® ESB is designed to be modular to fit multiple facility requirements. While the basic model provides 16 universal inputs and 16 outputs, it can be expanded to 128 universal inputs, 64 digital outputs, and 10 analog outputs. In addition, up to 16 intelligent RTU’s controlling 16 separate HVAC systems can be networked back to the TELSEC® ESB. The ESB also provides 96 unique control strategies in its operating program. Integrated wiring into terminals in the enclosure enables flexible wiring and a lower cost equipment and installation solution. The ESB is also available in a UL Panel version which can be customized to a specific application.
Remote site applications for the TELSEC® ESB include: fiber hubs, headends, OTNs, remote terminals, cabinets, CEVs, CUEs, data and switching centers, and customer prem sites. At these unmanned or partially manned sites, status of active and historical alarms, inputs, outputs, and logs can all be quickly reviewed. This is especially useful for staff at centralized and local monitoring centers to identify the severity of problems, sort out false alarms, and make intelligent decisions as to when a field technician must visit a remote site. Two-way communications for alarming and remote interrogation results in reduced visits to remote sites due to false alarms and more effective use of available personnel through quicker inhouse and field diagnosis of problems.
The TELSEC® ESB performs HVAC and Environmental monitoring and control, power plant, UPS, generator, invertor, TVSS, and/or phase loss monitoring, equipment failure monitoring including rectifiers and fuse panels, intrusion alarming and door access control up to four doors, tower light monitoring, and video camera monitoring all in one compact system.
