Quest Controls was founded in 1989 by Ed Goggin and Ken Nickel with its Corporate Headquarters in Palmetto, Florida. Quest’s first products served both the supermarket and retail chain markets providing HVAC, lighting, and refrigeration controls.
As the telecommunications industry grew rapidly in the 1990’s, Quest developed and marketed monitoring and control systems for the small to medium sized, mission critical, unmanned communication huts and switch gear buildings. Telecom providers needed quality vendors with whom they could count on for excellence of products and service. In order to enhance its service capabilities across the U.S., offices were placed in Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Georgia, and in Sacramento and San Jose, California. Affiliates were also established in Latin America and Canada.
The company has excellent capabilities in creating products that meet their Customer’s needs and ensures critical operating equipment stays running. This is only accomplished by working closely with each Customer and carefully listening to not only the needs of the Customer but their wants as well. At Quest, the primary focus is always on serving our Customers, as we understand well that without them, the business cannot succeed.
In 2003 and 2004 Quest won the prestigious Supplier Excellence Award from one of our larger Customers, Verizon. Only a handful of suppliers win this award annually amongst the thousands of suppliers Verizon has throughout the U.S.
Over the years, Quest has been very successful in their original business strategy. In 2004, Quest made another strategic business decision to expand its core business to serve the commercial market that has grown significantly over the 1990’s and is continuing to grow in the 2000’s. Business plans, product development and market studies started in order to serve the retail market.
The commercial sector of our economy is getting hit particularly hard on energy and labor costs. The retail industry is no exception. Their costs are rising exponentially and Quest saw an opportunity to help them do something about it while enhancing the value of their business. In 2005 the Commercial Division of Quest was launched with the following mission statement:
“Design, Manufacture, and Market high quality, versatile, microprocessor based Control and Monitoring Systems and Services to the Retail and Commercial Industries. We target specifically convenience stores, restaurants, apparel stores and other commercial buildings in the small to medium size sector worldwide ensuring improved profitability and excellence of service for our Customers.”
The Quest management team has over 100 years of accumulated experience in the business of controls. While we understand the knowledge we need to accomplish our mission, it is listening to our Customers that will carry us forward to the continued success Quest has accomplished during our history.
